The United States is a long-haul route, so shipping costs more than Asian destinations. Shipping from our Kendal warehouse starts at around $46 USD for 1kg, depending on the courier, speed, and destination city.
Two things matter most for your final cost:
- Weight:Heavier packages are cheaper per kg — the fixed per-shipment cost gets spread out. One 5kg box is almost always cheaper than five separate 1kg packages.
- Speed:Express (5-9 days) vs economy (2-4 weeks) can differ a lot. For clothes and anything that isn't urgent, the economy option saves significantly.

US peak season: Thanksgiving through Christmas (November-December) is the peak volume period for shipping to the USA. Delivery times can stretch by a few days and express rates go up. For year-end shipments, send by early November at the latest.
US Import Duty After the 2026 De-Minimis Change
The rules changed in 2026, and it matters for what you ship: the US ended its old $800 duty-free allowance, and the duty regime for Indonesian goods changed again on 24 July 2026.
Update (2026-07-26): The Section 122 surcharge on Indonesian goods lapsed on 24 July 2026 and was not extended. Separately, the United States signed a new tariff action under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 on 23 July 2026 which covers Indonesia among other economies. Its effective date and product exclusions have not yet been published in the Federal Register. We do not publish a US duty figure on this page — duty is assessed by US customs on arrival, by product HTS code, and we confirm the expected duty in your quote. The US-Indonesia Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART, 20 Feb 2026) is still not in force. The US $800 de-minimis elimination (E.O. 14324, Aug 2025) is unaffected and remains in effect. This page previously described the Section 122 surcharge as the operative US tariff. That is no longer accurate, and we have corrected it. We will update this page when the Federal Register notice publishes.
The $800 de-minimis ended (Aug 2025)
The US scrapped its $800 Section 321 duty-free allowance (E.O. 14324, 29 Aug 2025). Parcels now go through formal customs entry and duty can apply from the first dollar — so it's now what you ship, not just the value, that decides the duty.
No VAT at Customs
Unlike Europe or Australia, the US doesn't charge VAT/GST at the border. Sales tax is a matter for domestic marketplaces/sellers — not a customs charge on your personal shipment.
The US duty regime for Indonesian goods changed on 24 July 2026
The Section 122 surcharge lapsed on 24 July 2026. A separate Section 301 action signed on 23 July 2026 covers Indonesia, and its effective date and product exclusions have not yet been published in the Federal Register — so we don't publish a US duty figure here. The US-Indonesia Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (20 Feb 2026) is still not ratified, so its proposed zero-duty categories do not apply. We declare every value honestly with tidy paperwork so clearance goes smoothly, and confirm the expected duty in your quote.

- 3.Pick economy for non-urgent items.
The gap between express and economy to the US is large. Clothes, books, and souvenirs you're not in a hurry for are cheaper via the 2-4 week economy lane.
