Delivery Time by Courier
Delivery time to South Korea varies by courier, destination city, and season. Here's an estimate for each courier:
- DHL:3-5 business days to Seoul/Incheon, 4-6 days to Busan/Daegu/Gwangju. The most consistent service — real-time tracking via the DHL app.
- EMS:5-14 days. Packages are handled by Pos Indonesia → Korea Post. Tracking is less detailed once it enters Korea. The most economical option for light packages (<2kg).
Korea's peak seasons: Chuseok (September-October, dates vary — a 3-5 day holiday) and Seollal / Lunar New Year (January-February). Shipping volume jumps 200-300% and delivery times stretch by 3-7 days. Order 2 weeks before those dates.
South Korean Import Duty & the $150 Threshold
South Korea has relatively friendly import-duty rules for personal shipments. Here's the summary as of June 2026:
De Minimis Threshold: $150 USD
Packages with a total value (item price + shipping + insurance) under $150 are generally free of import duty and VAT. That's twice as high as Japan (≈ $65) — which means mid-value shipments like shoes, bags, or 5-10 pieces of clothing often clear with no tax at all.
Above $150: Import Duty + 10% VAT
For packages above $150, you'll be charged import duty (0-13% depending on the item's HS code) + 10% VAT on the total CIF value. For example: a batik outfit worth $200 — textile duty ~8% = $16, VAT 10% × $216 = $21.60, total tax ≈ $37.60. Still far lower than Japan or Europe for the same value.
The UNI-PASS System
Korea Customs uses the electronic UNI-PASS system. If your package is charged duty, you'll get an SMS/email notification from the courier with an online payment link. You can pay by credit card, Korean bank transfer, or KakaoPay. No need to go to the post office for clearance — it's all online.
Korean PCCC — The Personal Customs Clearance Code
South Korea requires a Personal Customs Clearance Code (PCCC) for ALL personal imports. Without one, your package will not clear Korean Customs — regardless of its value or contents.
What is a PCCC?
A PCCC is a personal customs identification number issued by Korea Customs Service. Format: P followed by 12 digits (e.g. P123456789012).
When does IndoShip ask for it?
We ask for your PCCC when you create a shipping order to South Korea. It is a required field — we cannot book your shipment without it. The PCCC must appear on the customs declaration and the shipping label.
What happens without a PCCC?
Without a PCCC, Korean Customs will block clearance and your package may be held at the port of entry or returned to Indonesia at your expense. This is not a carrier requirement — it is enforced by Korea Customs Service.
How to get your PCCC
Your recipient can obtain a PCCC directly from Korea Customs Service (customs.go.kr) before the shipment arrives. Ask your recipient to arrange it ahead of time — we need the code when you book.

Tips to Save on Shipping to Korea
- 1.Consolidate your packages.
If you shop from 3-4 different stores on Shopee/Tokopedia, combine them into one box at our warehouse before shipping. The per-item shipping cost can drop 40-60%.
- 2.Pick a courier that matches your priority.
Need it fast? DHL. Want to save? EMS. Don't pay for DHL on a package you're not in a hurry to receive.
- 3.Make the most of the $150 threshold.
If your total order is around $140-150, ship it in a single package to stay under the de minimis. If it's $200+, split it into two separate shipments. The extra shipping is often cheaper than paying duty + VAT.
- 4.Avoid peak season.
Don't ship the week before Chuseok or Seollal. Express rates rise 30-50% and delivery times slip. Plan your shipment 2-3 weeks ahead of the holiday dates.
- 5.Team up with friends.
